Rajasthan doctor kills herself after being booked for murder

In a tragic turn of events, A doctor from Rajasthan who was booked for murder takes her life leaving behind her children and husband. In her suicide note, Dr. Archana Sharma has appealed to people to not harass her husband and children after her death and not to “harass innocent doctors.” 

She was booked under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code after one of her patients, a pregnant lady, died due to PPH complications. Following the patient’s death, family members of the pregnant woman accused the private hospital of negligence. The Lalsot police, registered an FIR against Dr. Archana Sharma, allegedly under political pressure. Following the doctor’s suicide, the Rajasthan government also ordered the removal of the Dausa Superintendent of Police over the department’s handling of the case. 

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot has convened a meeting on the matter and directed officials to ensure necessary steps to stop such incidents in the future.
